Tomasz Basiuk

Tomasz Basiuk is associate professor at the University of Warsaw American Studies Center. His research encompasses queer theory and critical theory, contemporary U.S. fiction, life writing, and oral history. He authored two monographs and numerous articles, and co-edited nine collected volumes and special journal issues. He edits the book series New Americanists in Poland (with Peter Lang Verlag) and has co-edited the queer studies journal InterAlia (https://interalia.queerstudies.pl/) since its inception in 2006. He was PI in the “CRUSEV: Cruising the Seventies. Unearthing pre-HIV/AIDS Queer Sexual Cultures” project (Humanities in the European Research Area, 2016-2019) and is now PI in the “QueerIt: Queer Theory in Transit. Reception, Translation, and Production of Queer Theory in Polish and German Academic Contexts” project (Opus Lap). He is a former Fulbright grantee, former president of the Polish Association for American Studies and of the American Studies Network. He heads the UW Institute of the Americas and Europe.
