For decades at the University of Warsaw, many departments as well as postgraduate studies have conducted classes in the field of gender and sexuality studies. For the first time, they will be under the common umbrella of an MA studies program.
Gender and sexuality is a unique Polish-language program of study, arising from Polish and Anglo-American cultural studies conducted at the Institute of Polish Culture, the Center for American Studies, including the Gender/Sexuality Research Group, and entering into dialogue with other disciplines in the humanities and social sciences.
Gender and sexuality studies is an interdisciplinary research perspective geared towards the analysis of cultural and social phenomena. It serves to critically grasp our reality, constantly defined by the categories of gender and sexuality, and actively shape public space.
