Marcin Napiórkowski – semiotician, associate professor at the Institute of Polish Culture at the University of Warsaw. His research interests include cultural history, collective memory and the role of stories in building communities and decision-making. Author of dozens of scholarly articles and 7 monographs, including Mitologia współczesna, Powstanie umarłych (nominated for the Jan Długosz Award, finalist for the Kazimierz Moczarski Award), Turbopatriotyzm and Naprawić przyszłość (finalist for the Tischner Award, finalist for the Marcin Król Award). He is also experimenting with other genres: he was a librettist for the well-received musical 1989 and several other plays, as well as the audioseries “Narutowicz”. A regular contributor to Tygodnik Powszechny, he has also published in Więź, Znak, Polityka and Gazeta Wyborcza, among others. He runs the blog mitologiawspolczesna.pl. Since September 2024, he has served as director of the Polish History Museum.
