About Gender and Sexuality MA Program
Why is gender a divisive term? Who doesn’t want same-sex marriage, and why? To what extent do women shape their reproductive health? Why did trans become the focal point of culture wars? Why saving women from the global South may be suspect? How can class divisions appear as gender differences?
Over four semesters, the program of studies Gender and Sexuality will engage in the most current debates around these and similar questions in Poland and globally. We’ll be reading both classic and popular critical texts that have shaped our thinking while simultaneously discussing most contemporary cultural and social issues around gender and sexuality. Drawing on cultural studies, literary studies, history, anthropology, social sciences, and even biology, we will examine representations, social practices, norms, and institutions. The courses offered within the program will be an opportunity to apply theories and methods developed in the fields of gender and sexuality studies in practice through numerous individual and group projects and other interactive formats, relying on student-oriented, inclusive pedagogies.
