Marcin Bogucki is assistant professor at the University of Warsaw, Institute of Polish Culture, Section for Theatre and Performance and a graduate of cultural studies, art history and musicology. His research focuses on the cultural history of music and modern staging of opera. Recently he has been also developing projects on queer performances, including queer reflection on opera, drag in Poland, as well as Eurovision Song Contest in Central and Eastern Europe. He is the author of Szaleństwo w operze. Dzieje motywu w epoce nowoczesnej (Madness in Opera. The History of Motif in the Modern Age), Teatr operowy Petera Sellarsa Inscenizacje Händla i Mozarta z lat 80. XX wieku (Peter Sellars’s Staging of Händel and Mozart Productions from the 1980s) and a co-author of the Chopinowskie igrzysko. Historia Międzynarodowego Konkursu Pianistycznego im. Fryderyka Chopina 1927-2015 (The Chopin Games. History of the International Fryderyk Chopin Piano Competition in 1927-2015). He published in Didaskalia, Widok, Opcje, Dialog, Ruch Muzyczny, Res Facta Nova, Interdisciplinary Studies in Musicology, Dwutygodnik.com. Member of the Polish Society for Theatre Research and the Organisation Générale des Amateurs de l’Eurovision.
